The City of San Bernardino, the Consulate General of Mexico and Associação Emplandor (AdE) recently recognized 20 local entrepreneurs who graduated from the XVII class of the Emplandor program at the Consulate General of Mexico in San Bernardino.
Participants in the free in-person business training received technical assistance to start or continue to grow their own businesses. The Emprendor@s program serves monolingual Hispanic communities through leadership and business skill development, education, motivation, empowerment and support, according to a news release.
The recent program consists of eight consecutive weekly modules led by Monica Robles, founder and president of AdE and internationally certified John Maxwell team coach.
At the Dec. 14 graduation ceremony, Mr. Robles introduced San Bernardino's elected officials and representatives and addressed the graduates. Among the guests was Vice Consul Carlos Jiménez Zamudio. Amanda Hernandez, Division Manager, San Bernardino Economic Development Authority. City Council members Ben Reynoso, Kimberly Calvin, and Damon L. Alexander; Jonathan Escobar, Community Manager at JPMorgan Chase.
After receiving their certificates, graduates presented their businesses, products and services at the event's Business Expo. Their businesses include photography, cleaning services, food, bakery, beauty, skin care, real estate services, financial consulting, blankets, electrical solutions, lactation services, and more.
Since 2016, the Emprender@s program has provided assistance to more than 1,200 Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, according to a news release.
