Eden Hazard has admitted he would have suffered 'burnout' if he had followed Cristiano Ronaldo's insane training and recovery plan.
The Portuguese superstar is famous for having one of the most intense fitness regimes on the planet, and for many footballers he is the pinnacle of physical performance, and at the age of 38 he continues to play at the top level. .
Both played for Madrid during their careers, but never in the same team, with Hazard joining the club in 2019, a year after the Portuguese superstar left for Juventus.
But the Belgian has spoken out about Ronaldo's insane fitness regimen, insisting he would rather have a beer with friends than take a bath after training.
'no. It wouldn't have been me,'' Hazard told L'Equipe when asked if he wanted to have Ronaldo's mentality.
“I don't want to soak in a cold bath for an hour after training. Leave me alone and go home with your friends, play cards and drink beer.
“I'm playing with my friends for about two hours.'' Children in the garden. It was my recovery. If I were like Cristiano, I would have burned out. ”
Mail Sport previously delved into Ronaldo's insane training regimen, with the Al Nasr forward eating six snacks a day, taking naps between training sessions and earning £50,000. He reportedly spent time in a cryotherapy room.
Meanwhile, Hazard announced his retirement from professional football last year after being released by Real Madrid, with the 33-year-old saying he had “realized a dream”.
He also admitted that he is looking forward to spending more time with friends and family away from football.
After leaving Chelsea, the Belgian made 76 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring just seven goals, but struggled for game time. Despite this, he managed to win six titles, including the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
Asked whether leaving Chelsea for Madrid was the right choice for him, Hazard said: “I've been a Zidane fan since I was a child.” Bernabéu, white kit…it has a charm like no other. Madrid is special.
“More than that, I don't think I fit in. It's not like me.” It's a bit of a “bossy” club, but I'm not one of them. I also didn't like the way we played compared to other clubs.
“But it was my dream. I couldn't finish my career without coming here.”
He also recently reunited with the Swansea ballboy he once infamously kicked while playing for Chelsea in 2013.
Charlie Morgan, who is now worth £40 million thanks to his vodka empire, was pictured with the 33-year-old former professional player as part of promotion for his alcoholic drinks brand Au Vodka.
The two were also photographed posing while holding blue drinks and playing golf.
Regarding his retirement, Hazard told TNT Sports in October that he did not miss playing football.
'That's perfect. That's perfect. I enjoy my children’s life and my family,” he said. “I can do what I want and it's a perfect life.”
He added: “I watch it on TV when I can.” I also do other things, but for now I don't miss playing soccer. We'll see in a few months. ”
