Super Bowl suites are so expensive that even families of NFL players have a hard time affording them.
Lisa McCaffrey, the mother of San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, shared an eyebrow-raising confession on Friday's “Your Mom” podcast. Lisa answered a fan's question about the price of a suite at Allegiant Stadium, where her 27-year-old son will play in Super Bowl III against the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 11.
“That's probably the problem now. You never know,” Lisa said. “We've considered suites, but no one can afford them.”
Lisa said neither her son Christian nor his fiancée Olivia Culpo, the 2012 Miss Universe winner, could afford the high price. According to Business Insider's Cork Gaines, tickets to some of this year's Super Bowls will cost closer to $11,000, depending on several factors, including the star power of the players.
“We're not in the suite because we're not Christian, we don't have those money bags, we don't have Olivia's money bags,” Lisa said.
She continued that the family found seats in another area.
“The short answer is that it's prohibitively expensive. It's ridiculously expensive,” Lisa says. “I don't know if it's because of Taylor Swift or if it's her first time in Las Vegas. There's just so much going on.”
After Lisa's comments made headlines, Culpo, 31, announced on her Instagram Story that she had a solution.
“Fake news! Happy birthday Lisa, I bought you a suite,” Culpo wrote on Friday. Lisa reposted the story with a confetti filter.
