“Parenting brings unique challenges, and raising awareness about the daily stresses of parenting and the tools and supports available is critical to the health of children and families,” said Debra, Parent Education Program Manager at Co-op.・Mr. Wigginton said. “Stressful events in early life can have lasting physical and emotional effects, but positive parenting strategies have been shown to prevent or reduce these effects. This work is important to destigmatize the struggle of raising children and ensure that parents and caregivers receive the support and guidance they need to raise their children as they grow.”
“We are grateful to the Napa County Board of Supervisors and the California State Legislature for continuing to recognize the importance of positive parenting and the role parents play in creating a better and brighter Napa Valley.” said Executive Director Jessica Silverman. “Raising children is a parent's most important job, but also the most difficult. In addition to the day-to-day stressors of raising children, families face challenges such as housing shortages, inflation, economic turmoil, climate disasters, and structural inequality. This resolution recognizes the increasing challenges facing California families and reiterates that positive parenting programs like Triple P can support families through the added challenges of the modern world. The Co-op will continue to work with other community agencies to provide support to Napa Valley families through positive parenting education and resources.”
