lubbock – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s tennis team lost 6-1 to the Texas Tech University (TTU) Red Raiders in a doubleheader Friday at McLeod Tennis Center.
Texas Tech (4-3) won the first and third games to earn doubles points. UTRGV (3-8) changed doubles teams and looked competitive with the new pairings, although they fell behind 1-0.duo of new students Ivo Isqueiro and Santiago Serrano were fighting in the second game, but the close battle was not resolved and they were leading 6-5.
The Red Raiders won on the fourth, second and third singles courts to seal the match victory.
Senior Emilian Burnell An impressive 6-2, 6-4 win put the Vaqueros on the board. Jonas Gundacker In the No. 1 singles match. TTU took the lead in the remaining two games, but the young Vaqueros fought hard until the end.
UTRGV's next game will be Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at SMU.
