Are you considered human if you never lock yourself out of the house at least once? A mother on TikTok posted a “Mission Impossible'' video on how to unlock the door of her house and let her mother (@gesikaaaaaa) in. I realized that I was in quite a predicament, having only a toddler to help. The video begins with the camera pointing at a rosy-cheeked toddler on a snow-covered balcony.
The boy only looks like he's 2 or 3 years old, but he's good at following directions…sort of. It's all still fairly new to him, and as anyone who has worked with young children knows, giving instructions in multiple steps is not the right way to do it. They tend to hear only one thing, and even then, they tend to get distracted by the lint and fail to complete the task.
Everything is new to young children and it doesn't take long for them to get distracted. And almost anything can become a toy. So classic toddler cuteness ensued when this mom helped her son through her open window, trying to help and guide him through the process of unlocking the door.
The desperate mother explains in the video that she left one of the windows unlocked, but quickly realized there was no way an adult could squeeze through the tight space without getting hurt. Masu. So she uses her toddler to do it instead, and when he gets inside the house, his instructions are to get a chair…he finds a bowl. His mother told him, “Concentrate, concentrate, grab a chair and bring it to the door.”
What do you know? The kind boy did as he was told. Until he found a stone. The chair begins to move again as the mother quickly refocuses on the boy. The boy then finds the fireplace tongs and takes a break to play with the fireside tool rack. In the end, this little guy succeeds in his mission, but the journey there turns out to be the cutest maze-like side quest you'll ever see.
Watch him rescue his mother below.
