LANSING — Sen. Joseph Bellino Jr. (R-Monroe) was one of the key legislators recognized by the Michigan Small Business Association at the Leadership Council's winter event held recently at Heritage Hall.
Bellino's office said in a news release: “Last year, lawmakers introduced measures to reduce tax burdens on small businesses, promote economic growth through the redevelopment of existing sites, and implement other policies that stifle employer-employee relations. He was praised for his efforts to oppose the
Bellino owned Broadway Market in Monroe.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and our communities,” Bellino said. “As a former small business owner, it means a lot to be recognized by other small business owners. As we continue to fight for pro-growth policies that boost our economy and support family-owned small businesses, We look forward to continuing to work with the association and local employment providers.”
“SBAM has reported that Mr. Bellino and other prominent members of Congress have a 100% voting record on the issues most important to small business owners,” Bellino's office said in a statement.

“The voting buttons at the Capitol have a tremendous impact on the operations of small businesses across Michigan, and those who push them need to understand what policies will hinder their growth and success rates.” said President Brian Carey. CEO of SBAM. “We have bipartisan recognition of the many issues we are working on to support and grow small businesses, but we also recognize how punitive some of these policies are and how government overreach is. Only a handful of people have a clear understanding of how much damage it can do to small businesses.”
