Farmable, a provider of farm management software (FMS), has reached a milestone in cooperation with the central SIEX project led by the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA). One of his pioneering communities in Spain, Castilla y Leon, has successfully established a live API connection between Farmable and government documentation systems on agriculture.
This achievement highlights the collaboration between the Castilla y León development team at the heart of the SIEX project and Farmable itself, and marks an important milestone in complying with the European Union's (EU) new agricultural regulations.
“This is a turning point in European agriculture, with the federal system prioritizing interoperability with agricultural commercial tools and ultimately allowing farmers to choose how they manage their compliance obligations.” Farmable explains Lars Petter Brikom, CEO of the company.
The EU has introduced strict regulations requiring farmers in its 28 member countries to accurately document and report their farming practices. As one of Europe's largest food producing countries, Spain has been actively developing digital solutions to support farms in meeting new reporting requirements. This includes the implementation of Cuaderno Digital de Explotación (CUE), a digital tool for tracking and reporting plant protection treatments, fertilization and other important information. To encourage Spanish producers to take advantage of CUE, farms that voluntarily report during the 2024 season will be given priority in the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) application process, with reduced scrutiny and/or fines this season. can be expected to be reduced.
Farmable simplifies compliance processes for farmers in Castile and Leon by establishing seamless API connectivity with government reporting systems, demonstrating the power of collaboration between local and central development teams .
David Sanchez Lopez, Project Coordinator at SIEX, praised the collaboration and said, “The successful implementation of Live API connectivity demonstrates the dedication of both the public and private sectors to ease regulatory compliance for farmers. This milestone reflects the industry's consensus' vision for a more efficient and technologically advanced agricultural sector. ”
Key features of Farmable's live connection to government reporting systems include automatic data transfer, seamless integration, real-time updates, and increased efficiency. Farmable would like to thank both the development team of Castilla y León and his SIEX project in the center for their dedicated efforts in making this achievement possible. Farmers in Castilla y León are encouraged to consider how they can take advantage of this live connection and streamline their compliance with the Cuaderno Digital de Explotación and other regulatory requirements.
