The University of Texas at Arlington School of Business will convene prominent economic leaders for a symposium to discuss the future of real estate in North Texas on Wednesday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In “DFW Real Estate—The Next Decade,” area experts examine trends in the region's housing market. For example, home prices have doubled from a median market price of $170,000 in 2012 to approximately $425,000 in 2022.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear insights from key economic leaders in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, including:
- Jeff Cheney, Mayor of Frisco
- Kele Marsalis, President and CEO, Plano Chamber of Commerce
- Doug McDonald, City of Plano Economic Development Director
- Steve Montgomery, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce President and CEO
- Mike Rosa, Senior Vice President of Economic Development, Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce
Additionally, Sam Suzuki, CEO of SIRE 3D and Sperry RE Capital, will speak about innovative approaches to construction, including the role of 3D printing in commercial real estate.
Sriram Villupuram, associate professor in the School of Finance and Real Estate and director of the Ryan Riley Center for Urban Land Use in the College of Business, provides valuable insight into how real estate has shaped the North Texas economy .
“Over the past decade, companies large and small have organically moved all or part of their organizations to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area,” Villepuram said. “Metroplex attractions include affordable real estate and a highly educated workforce provided by several public and private universities. DFW real estate ranks as the most affordable real estate in the country How do we attract businesses and jobs to the region over the next 10 years, given that we are losing ?”
