huffman – A small business owner is lucky to be alive after a brutal and bloody attack in his front garden over the weekend ended with the family’s beloved Wiener dog being stolen.
Sean Allen Goodson, 18, was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. As of this writing, a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
Shortly after midnight Sunday, Goodson arrived at the business owner's home with loud music playing, according to court records.
“I told him to turn down the loud music in a not-so-polite manner on my property,” said Jeremy Lott, owner of Huffman Auto Repair & Performance.
Mr Lott said Mr Goodson had known his son for many years and what happened next came as a big surprise.
“He hit me on the back and the soles of my feet, kicked me and punched me, dragged me around the yard by my hair and pulled all my hair out of my head,” Lott said. “The whole time he was hitting me, he was just threatening to kill me,” Lott said. “I said thank you to God for the life I had.”
Goodson allegedly used a wooden beam to repeatedly strike Lott. Lott didn't know at the time why Goodson showed up, but according to court records, Goodson texted Lott's son earlier that night, saying, “I had some booze and would you like to get drunk with me?'' It is said that he was sending it.
The attack left him with a broken arm, a bloody back and a chunk of his hair missing. A neighbor heard Lott scream for help and ran outside in his slippers.
“I grabbed my little niece's pink T-ball bat,” Haley Lee said. “I left it like this and hiked up his leg and said 'bin' and hit him in the head.”
Thanks to this, Lott was freed from Goodson and was finally able to take his last breath.
“I'm glad I came to help because that guy was literally killing him in his front yard,” Lee said. “I'm a child of God, and I always say I want to be a vessel. That's what I was that day.”
Lott and her family said they believe her actions may have saved his life.
Goodson left soon after, but was accused of stealing Coco, one of the Lott family's two dog dogs.
“He took everything he knew about me and made it even more traumatizing,” Lott said.
Lott spent several hours at the hospital Sunday. During that time, Goodson texted his son and demanded a $300 ransom to return Koko, he said. Goodson eventually took Coco home while Lott was hospitalized.
Lott has a broken arm and has trouble completing basic tasks at the mechanic shop. He hopes to make a full recovery, but he doesn't have medical insurance and is having trouble finding an orthopedic surgeon who will accept him as a self-pay patient.
“I can't work with one arm, so I need arm help. I need a doctor,” he said.
While Goodson is still at large, Lott said it will be difficult for his family to find peace of mind. He wants to get him off the street.
“It was very traumatic for everyone involved,” he said. “We don't know what's going to happen or what could happen. We're scared.”
Prosecutors filed papers asking that Goodson's bail be set at $30,000. Information regarding his whereabouts can be reported to the Harris County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
