Grimes’ mother says Elon Musk is “alienating” the former couple’s children from their family.
Sandy Garossino directly referenced Musk in a series of X posts on Saturday, writing that Grimes and her children were planning to visit their 93-year-old great-grandmother in Canada this weekend. Canadian singer Grimes has three children with Musk: X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus.
“She was so excited this weekend as her children were scheduled to come over today to celebrate her birthday, but those hopes were dashed when the trip was canceled,” Garossino wrote to X.
“They are worried because they know their children cannot come because Claire is hiding their children and their passport documents from them,” she added, referring to Grimes by her first name.
Musk attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris on Friday with his and Grimes’ eldest son, X. Share with X Musk was apparently seen with his son at the event.
He also attended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to members of parliament in Washington DC on Wednesday.
Garossino suggested Grimes doesn’t even know where all her children are.
“Where are the other children and who are they with? They are going to be with their mother. They were expected to be here in Canada,” she wrote.
Garossino then called on Musk to “honor the agreement, return the children and provide the necessary paperwork for them to see their great-grandmother before she passes away.”
“Elon please. This is very hard on my mother and I am worried for my children. Time is of the essence right now,” she wrote.
Grimes and Musk have been battling over custody of their children since 2022, but court records were sealed in April 2024, so the current status is unknown.
Musk has 12 children with three women, including his ex-wife Justine Wilson and Neuralink executive Siobhan Gillis.
After Garossino spoke out on X, Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, also criticized the Tesla founder in a thread.
Wilson openly criticized Musk in an interview with NBC News published on Thursday. Wilson, who is transgender, told NBC that Musk was an absentee father and cruel. Musk called Wilson by her dead name with an X and wrote, “She’s not a girl.”
“As you may know, Grimes is currently fighting Elon for custody of their three children,” Wilson wrote in the thread on Saturday. “But what you probably don’t know is that Elon is illegally and continually separating those children, her children, from their mother during the most important developmental years of their lives.”
Grimes voiced her support for Wilson in an X post on Thursday following her NBC News interview.
“I love Vivienne and am forever proud of her,” Grimes wrote.
Business Insider reached out to Garossino via text message on Saturday, and she said she would not be commenting at this time beyond what she wrote to X on Saturday.
Representatives for Grimes and Musk did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
