Jersey City, New Jersey — Robert Cole, director of athletics at New Jersey City University, announced that the department has officially hired Tom Krychkowski ’12 as the next assistant director of athletics in the Department of Communications and Marketing. Krychkowski, who is not familiar with NJCU or the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), graduated from the university in 2012 and most recently served as director of athletic communications at Rutgers-Newark.
“Tom Krychkowski’s professional and personal experience at NJCU and NJAC will help ensure a smooth transition for us,” Cole said. “Tom is a tireless worker and creative problem solver. His passion for his work and alma mater is evident, and we are excited about how he will put a creative spin on our thriving athletic communications program. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens.”
Before returning to Jersey City, Kritchkowski served in a similar role at NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark for the past five and a half seasons, starting in March 2019. He served as the primary player for the Scarlet Raiders. Media personnel contacted and handled all public relations and promotions for the department's 14 collegiate sports. Krichkowski will use digital content, social media, photography, videography, graphic design, and other short-form content to help the department tell the story of Rutgers-Newark Athletics, its staff, and more than 250 student-athletes. Prior to his time in Newark, Krichkowski served as assistant sports information director at the College of Staten Island, then a Division III institution, from January 2014 until joining the Scarlet Raiders. During his time with the Dolphins, he led sports marketing efforts, created graphics and visual communications for the department's social media, grew followers and engagement, and wrote and edited articles for the department's website, among other tasks. I did. At CSI, Mr. Krichkowski received two awards in 2019: the SAAC Appreciation Award and the Distinguished Service Award.
Krychkowski earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from NJCU in 2012 and served as a student assistant in the sports information department for four years during his tenure, as well as being a member of the Gothic Knights' men's soccer program, scoring 26 points, including nine goals. obtained. He played over 46 games, 18 of which he started in midfield and scored a goal. He received the Robert L. McNulty Award for this program in 2012.
A native of North Arlington, Krichkowski lives in Nutley with his wife and two young children.
