Welcome to logoff. Today, I'm focusing on last night's Donald Trump speech line. I felt surprisingly honest. It was admitted that Trump's plan to sort the US economy by tariffs was not painless. Once you become clear about how steep the tariffs are, you can see how much pain Trump is talking about.
So, which is that? The past two days have been a continuous mix of signals. There are signs that tariffs are temporary or at least decrease.
But there is also the possibility that we are just starting out:
What is the overall picture? Even before and after the election, many argued that Trump's tariffs were bluffing. We're not sure yet — and while last night's speech might have been more bluffing, that's not that much. The president says he's okay with a bit of “blocking” and he bets that you're okay with that too.
And so, it's time to log off…
