When news broke that Robert De Niro had become a father again at the age of 79, many wondered what kind of father he would be. Will he be like the other kids? Will he take things slow or faster? In October 2023, when he said he wasn't doing the heavy lifting when it came to raising his and Tiffany Chen's newborn daughter Jia. Many people were stunned. But fast forward to January 2024, and his latest comments are effectively the opposite.
When interviewed for AARP's February/March 2024 issue, he talked about what it was like to be a father in his 80s. “It feels so good,” he said. “When I look at her, all my infatuations with her and my worries about her disappear. It's amazing.”
