Ticket prices for this year's Super Bowl, Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers, might make billionaire Taylor Swift blush.
As of Monday, the Feb. 11 game is the most expensive Super Bowl in history, according to TickPick. The average price is hovering around $9,800, 70% higher than last year's biggie.
The current “admission” price (minimum) for this year's game is $8,188, more than 50% higher than the lowest ticket price for last year's Super Bowl at this time of year, which was $5,997.
defending super bowl champion, The Chiefs will be playing in the big game for the fourth time in the last five years. The last time they faced the 49ers in the Super Bowl was in 2020, when the Chiefs came from behind to win.
The 2020 game was the most expensive Super Bowl ever, with an average purchase price of $6,370, according to TickPick. These tickets were 35% cheaper than this year's matchup.
One of the main reasons for rising prices is the city itself. Brett Goldberg, co-CEO of TickPick, told CNN that Las Vegas has been a “huge driver of record demand” because “its location makes it a great place for fans to attend. “It turns a three-hour match into a week full of festivities.”
“Over the past 12 months, Las Vegas has gradually begun to establish itself as the sports capital of the United States, and this may be its crowning moment,” he said. Nevada City hosted an F1 race in November.
As always, ticket prices are likely to drop as the game approaches, with resellers looking to sell seats at lower prices. TickPick noticed last year that some Chiefs fans were “fatigued,” but Goldberg said the city “could very well convince fans to participate regardless.” .
Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for cheap tickets. Goldberg said that while “prices could fall” over the next two weeks, prices did not fall as far back as the 2020 Super Bowl matchup, where both teams previously faced each other.
“So while we may see a decline in prices, it may not be significant,” Goldberg said.
Super Bowl LVIII will be held in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 11th, with kickoff at 6:30 PM ET. The game will be broadcast on CBS and its streaming service Paramount+.
