Gillian Fleming, a prominent figure in the Scottish business and investment world, has been appointed as the University of Stirling Management School’s newest Entrepreneur in Residence.
Jillian is the CEO and co-founder of Mint Ventures, a female-led angel investor group making angel investing more accessible to women.
As Entrepreneur in Residence, Gillian, along with three others, provides practical advice and guidance to students, alumni and staff towards their business goals. She also became a member of the Sterling Management School's International Business Advisory Board.
A Saltire Fellow, Gillian has spent over 20 years developing and advising successful science and technology startups, helping them build teams, develop strategy, and raise capital for growth.
Commenting on both her mission and her new appointment, Gillian said: “More gender diversity in equity investing is needed to enable more women-led and diverse teams to access capital, especially in underfunded sectors where women are more likely to start businesses. ”.
“Encouraging more women to consider entrepreneurship and investing as a career will help develop more sustainable businesses.”
She added: “Having a background in investing and immersed in the startup ecosystem, I am excited to bring my perspective and philosophy to the Sterling School of Management and join its distinguished Entrepreneur in I am honored to be a part of the residency program,” he added.
Professor Kevin Grant, Dean of the University of Stirling Management School, also commented:
