The Bay East Association of Realtors recently recognized some of the region's most outstanding real estate professionals for their contributions to the industry in 2023.
Awards presented at the association's annual ceremony in January included Realtor of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Platinum Affiliate of the Year and Outstanding Leader. , Good Neighbor of the Year, and the John Dedrich Distinguished Service Award.
Association leaders said the award winners “each demonstrated ethical standards and professionalism, active community involvement, and a high level of service to the real estate profession.”
Bay East, headquartered on Col Center Parkway in Pleasanton, is a trade association representing more than 6,000 residential and commercial real estate professionals in the Tri-Valley and other regions of the East Bay.

Real Estate Agent of the Year
Sheila Cunha of Legacy Real Estate and Associates in Pleasanton received the Realtor of the Year award for demonstrating the highest level of integrity and commitment to the Bay East and the real estate profession.
Mr. Cunha has served as BayEast President, member of the BayEast Board of Directors, and chair of the BayEast Local Government Relations and Political Action Committee. She also serves on the board of the California Association of Realtors and is a leader in the CAR advocacy program. Cunha is a passionate advocate for homeowners and housing providers.
Rookie of the Year
Nicole Easterday, along with Compass of Oakland, received the Rookie of the Year Award, which recognizes new real estate agents who demonstrate high principles of integrity, adherence to the Realtor Code of Ethics, and promoting the principles of good real estate practice and citizenship. Platinum Affiliate of the Year
Adriana Mendez of Custom Moving & Hauling in Danville received the Platinum Affiliate of the Year award. Mendez supports the real estate community through her involvement in the Livermore Real Estate Alliance and Valley Real Estate Network, along with the Women's Council of Realtors.

Don Fort, of Compass in Pleasanton, received the Outstanding Leader Award, given to a past president of the association who continues to pursue a vision of excellence in the name of the Bay East. Mr. Fatt is a past president of both Bay East and the Central African Republic and currently serves on several committees of Bay East, the Central African Republic and the National Association of Realtors.
John Deadrich Achievement Award
The John A. Dedrich Distinguished Service Award was presented to June Burkhardt of Legacy Real Estate and Associates in Fremont for her contributions to the Bay East in 2023.
Named in honor of BayEast's first chairman, this award is traditionally given to one BayEast member who exemplifies the self-sacrifice, vision, and accomplishments of the great leaders who have shaped the real estate industry.
