It goes without saying, but there's nothing I love more than when celebrities antagonize their “people” (like their agents and publicists) and expose to the world just how insidious this industry is. The latest example is Charli XCX She posted some outrageous things on social media that definitely sent her “team” into a spiral.
The British singer, who is gearing up for the release of her new album, has leaked a list of ridiculous marketing ideas her team has pitched to her, each one more mind-bogglingly stupid than the last.
Charli wipes her Instagram clean, as all singers do when they're about to release new music, and one slide contains a dirty photo of the singer, and the next contains emails with all of the aforementioned idiots. I shared a spicy post that contained ideas.
“Things were boring without me. Swipe through the marketing ideas I sent you last week :),” she captioned the post.

Suggestions included having Charli XCX leak a sex tape and have a “Winona moment” ( winona ryder (she got caught shoplifting in the 1990s) and then, wait for it, let her run for president (???).
I love the fact that Charlie, rather than getting swayed by these shitty ideas, instead decided to leak the list to social media to show her followers the kind of shit she's dealing with here. I am really grateful to you.
Rather than relying on the quality of the songs or Charlie's talent as an artist, her team proposed a series of degrading publicity stunts aimed at eating up clickbait headlines.
Well, her team got their wish, but we're sure they won't be happy with the way it all ended.
Thanks to this, we hope that the new era of Charli XCX will be a huge success. And I hope she fires her marketing team and believes in her music for what it is and doesn't resort to literal theft and breaking into the White House *checks notes* to get streams on Spotify. I hope you find a better team.
