Deloitte has acquired a disease surveillance business to help drive growth of the consulting and professional services firm's public health transformation practice.
CasePointer was launched by End Point in 2008 as a developer of open source software to help public health agencies work with epidemiological data.
Case Pointer's team of technologists and public health experts will join Deloitte and work with clients on their modernization and surveillance needs. Terms of the deal announced Tuesday were not disclosed.
Deloitte will look to combine its GovConnect digital assets with CasePointer's suite of tools, including its EpiTrax platform for collecting, organizing and maintaining data on diseases and other health hazards.
The move comes on the heels of Deloitte's April acquisition of Gryphon Scientific, another public health-focused company that specializes in helping government agencies use artificial intelligence and data to respond to epidemics.
“The acquisition of End Point's CasePointer business builds on Deloitte's continued investments to complement our customizable, human-centric solutions and support our growth into new markets,” Jason Salzetti, Deloitte's government and public services practice leader, said in the release.
One example of these investments is Deloitte's plans to expand its artificial intelligence-generated tools for health and human services organizations, which the company first announced in September 2023, to help state and local government clients streamline the way they deliver benefits and other services to their citizens.
