The overall goal of the High North Entrepreneurship Competition is to draw attention to the economic potential and special needs of the High North region and to encourage young people to develop business ideas.
Every year, the High North Business and Governance Center awards a prize of NOK 50,000 (approx. EUR 5,000) to a company. Arctic related business ideas for young entrepreneurs and startups.
This year's winners will be announced during the High North Dialogue conference to be held in Bodø, northern Norway, as part of the 2024 Arctic Conference Bodø.
Last year's winner of the Entrepreneur Award was Norway's Eagle AI, which developed software that uses satellite data to more accurately predict where fish stocks will be found.
You can apply in the following cases:
- If you start your own business or belong to a company
- you just have a good startup idea
- You or your company can be based in any country or region, but your idea is focused on and related to the Arctic and meets three important criteria:
- Relevance to the North
- Quality of project application and business plan elements
- Uniqueness and originality of the idea
- The company is within 5 years of its establishment date
- The applicant can be the creator of the idea, the person who actually implements the idea, or any other person related to the idea.
- Applicant's age must be up to 40 years old
The High North Entrepreneurship Committee particularly encourages projects in the bioeconomy, clean energy, health and welfare, oceans, smart society, creative industries, tourism and green shift sectors..
