For the first time since 2019, the Duke University basketball team leaves Virginia Tech with a victory.
The seventh-ranked Blue Devils overcame foul trouble and won 77-67 against the Hokies at Cassell Coliseum on Monday night at Cassell Coliseum, with an incredible rebounding effort and several rebounding performances.
Duke (16-4, 7-2 ACC), which had lost five of its last six games against Virginia Tech (13-8, 5-5 ACC) in Blacksburg, lost captain Jeremy They relied on strong efforts from Roach and Ryan Young for the win. It takes place on the road.
Coach John Scheyer's Blue Devils have won five consecutive games on the road at Cameron Indoor Stadium after losing consecutive road games earlier this season. Duke won't play again until Saturday's rivalry showdown at No. 3 UNC.
Here's what stood out from the Blue Devils' recent wins:
Duke University Basketball's Jeremy Roach, Kyle Filipowski's Bounce Back Game
Jeremy Roach looked more like himself against the Hokies after dealing with various injuries in recent games. After scoring five points against Clemson, Roach came off the bench to record a team-high 16 points and four assists at Virginia Tech.
The Virginia native had a knack for reacting even after single-digit losses. Roach scored nine points against Pitt, but bounced back with 18 points against Georgia Tech. At the beginning of the season, Roach had three games in single digits, but then scored in double digits in the next six games.

Like Roach, Kyle Filipovski rarely strings together bad games. Despite another game in which he was in foul trouble, Filipovski had 14 points and eight rebounds against the Hokies.
The sophomore had nine points and four rebounds against Clemson. Filipowski, who scored seven points at Notre Dame earlier this year, bounced back with 26 points against Pitt.
Ryan Young's Blue Devils Key 15
Ryan Young had his best game of the season in 15 minutes off the bench. With Filipovski in foul trouble, Young recorded 10 points, five rebounds and two assists against the Hokies, marking his second double-digit scoring performance of the season. The 6-foot-10 big man did most of his damage in the second half, scoring eight points in five minutes.
Jared McCain's rebound is key to Duke's best effort
Duke had a 38-20 rebound advantage against the Hokies, its highest rebound margin against a Power Five opponent this season. Jared McCain, a 6-foot-3 freshman guard, backed up the effort with a team-high 10 rebounds in his first game with double-digit rebounds since Duke's loss at Arkansas. McCain's rebounding numbers will be key for Duke, and Duke has outrebounded them in three of their four losses.
