Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said the government is keen to support startups in various technology sectors such as finance, industry and services.
He made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of Cyberport, Hong Kong's largest technology business hub. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Asian Financial Forum and discussed how to foster bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technology with a focus on green startups. This is consistent with global strategies to tackle the challenge of climate change.
Maait said Egypt is providing all incentives to encourage entrepreneurs and helping build a digital economy where individuals, sectors and businesses can improve productivity and sustain growth.
He added that the state is taking serious steps towards the digitalization of its business systems, which will affect the entire business community in all sectors, especially development priority areas. This is under the interest of political leaders to make the most of digitalization and its applications, as it plays an important role in accelerating economic development, improving the business environment and attracting investment. .
He also explained that the digitalization of the tax system has improved collection efficiency and integrated the informal economy into the formal economy. This leads to increased spending on development needs, ultimately impacting people's lives and the services they receive.
