As well as their influence on the future of the real estate industry, their influence in real estate leadership is also increasing. This was one of the most compelling takeaways from Delta Media's 2024 Real Estate Leadership Survey.
Looking at the use of artificial intelligence in the real estate sector, a new study found that female-led brokerages are significantly more likely to use artificial intelligence. The study revealed that female leaders use their AI more than male leaders.
bridging the gender gap
According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 62% of all REALTORS® are women. However, historically the majority of brokers/owners have been men, and leadership positions in real estate continue to be held by men.
But that is changing. There is turnover in leadership in the real estate brokerage industry, as more women are entering top roles at many of the nation's largest and most respected real estate brokerage firms.
Prominent leaders include Lacey Conway, CEO of Rutter & Bloom, the Gulf South region's largest independent housing brokerage firm; Jill Jacobi Wood, co-president of Windermere Real Estate, the largest regional real estate company in the Western United States. Christina Pappas, President of The Keys Company, Florida's largest independent family-owned real estate brokerage firm. and Helen Hanna Casey, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, the nation's largest independent real estate company.
Even Anywhere, the nation's largest real estate brokerage franchise, has more than 140,000 agents across its network and, like many brands, is run by a female powerhouse, President and CEO Sue Yanacone. Masu. Kamini Lane is President and CEO of Coldwell Banker Realty. ; Pam Liebman is President and CEO of The Corcoran Group. Ginger Wilcox is President and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.
These are just a few of the many extremely talented women who are changing the face of leadership in the real estate industry.
Women's leadership in securities firms continues to grow. In last year's Delta survey, she made up 21% of female leaders surveyed. This year she is at 26%, and in just one year she has increased by 5%.
embrace technology
Women leaders are also making brokerages more likely to adopt the latest technology, as evidenced by the adoption and implementation of AI.
Delta research shows that an astonishing 88% of female leaders in real estate are already using AI. Other findings include:
We show that female-led brokerage firms with higher annual trading volumes are more likely to implement AI, and firms with higher volumes tend to utilize AI more extensively.
Female-led offices with a higher number of agents are more likely to use AI, suggesting that large female-led brokerages are more likely to integrate AI technology.
More women in brokerage leadership roles is the future of our business. And while these women are more willing to accept her AI, they're also a little anxious, worried about the lack of “proper guardrails.”
It's good for us to move forward as an industry.
