Georgia Tech gained a key defensive target when Delly Norris committed to the Yellow Jackets on Friday night. The Yellow Jackets managed to lure Norris away from the rival Miami Hurricanes after acquiring fellow Georgia Tech target Herbert Scroggins earlier in the day.
Norris is a 6'4, 270 lb defensive lineman who plays for Spruce Creek in Port Orange, Florida. Norris led the way with 70.5 tackles, 20 QB pressures, 13 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. According to 247Sports, Norris also competed in the shot put events on the track team, going 37-10.5 in the shot put as a sophomore. This year, he competed in the 4X100 for his high school team, showcasing his speed during the track season.
Norris chose from among Purdue University, University of Minnesota, University of Miami and Georgia Tech. He took official visits to Miami (June 7), University of Minnesota (June 15) and Purdue University (June 21). Norris made a big splash on his recruiting in March, receiving offers from Miami, University of Missouri, Texas A&M, University of Texas, Jackson State, Michigan State, Louisiana State and University of Florida.
As for the Yellow Jackets' recruiting, Norris received an offer last July. Despite some staff turnover and a new defensive coordinator, Georgia Tech continued to hold the Spruce Creek defensive lineman in high regard. He took an official visit to the Flats on May 31 and after the visit, he spoke highly of the Yellow Jackets, naming them one of his finalists.
In terms of what he brings to Georgia Tech, Norris is a devastating interior defender who has won a lot of one-on-ones. His moves aren't flashy, but they don't need to be. Norris has mastered using his hands and slipping under offensive linemen to penetrate the backfield. His tracking in the run game is fantastic, swallowing the ball carrier in a flash. Norris is great at block sheds, preventing the ball carrier from advancing down the field.
Another thing to note when watching his film is that he never stops making plays. He is always on the move and doesn't stop until the whistle blows. In his Hudl film, you will see several plays where he chases down and stops quarterbacks and ball carriers. He gives his all on every play.
Norris is the Yellow Jackets' second interior defensive line commit in the class of 2025. Georgia Tech also has two EDGE commits in Carrington Coombs (Hebron Christian) and Andre Fuller (Grayson). Norris is another big acquisition for the program as the team continues to add to its 2025 commitments, securing 20 total commitments and 17 commitments in June.
