If you're struggling as a stepparent, Gwyneth Paltrow wants you to know that you're not alone. She recently opened up about her difficult journey to building a positive relationship with her husband Brad Falchuk's children, and it's a very encouraging statement.
Things didn't start out easy.
At the Visionary Women's International Day Summit held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the Goop founder asked the audience if they had a stepmother. Page 6. “Yeah, that's gross, isn't it, guys?” she said. “No, actually I love talking about this because it's one of the biggest lessons for me as a human being.”
“And my personal growth area came from my first difficult relationship with my stepchildren, and now they're like my children,” she shared.

“The road to get here was really tough,” she said. “It's like embodying the spirit of the sun, just giving and not expecting anything in return. I've learned to never keep score and just keep shining like the sun.”

In a November 2023 interview with PEOPLE magazine, Paltrow shed further light on the challenges of being a stepmom. “It's hard, it's not intuitive, and no one tells you how to do it. You just stick with it,” she said. “Now it's one of the things that brings me the most happiness in my life.”
