MarTech.org launched MarTechBot, the first generative AI chatbot for marketing technology professionals, in May 2023. An analysis of the first 600 of his MarTechBot prompts in June found that while users primarily derive value from generative/creative tasks, they also use MarTechBot to solve a variety of problems. has also been found to be helpful. marketing dilemma.
Since then, MarTechBot has responded to an additional 1,500 prompts, and it's time to perform intent analysis again.
With so much content to review, we were able to use ChatGPT's powerful data analysis capabilities to better understand themes, messages, and usage.
Before we get started, you may have noticed a new button on MarTech.org posts. Right next to the share button above is a new “Chat with MarTechBot” option. Clicking on it will open MarTechBot and you can start messaging right away. If you want access to a full set of customized personas or image generators, those are all available too.
Not surprisingly, most of the prompts that MarTechBot responded to focused on a variety of marketing-related topics. Common themes and typical prompts from MarTechBot users include:
Theme No. 1: Marketing in general. Most of these inquiries were driven by universal marketing challenges. Terms such as “content,” “email,” and “digital” were frequently mentioned.

Theme 2: Data and Technology. Words such as “data,” “technology,” and “platform” were frequently used to illustrate the discussion of data management and technology solutions in marketing.

Theme #3: Customer-centricity: Terms like “customer” and “CDP” emphasize the focus on customer data and customer relationships.

Theme No.4: Marketing operations: Words like “MOps,” “operations,” “creation,” and “needs” likely suggest operational discussions about how to implement or leverage marketing technology.

Some sessions had nothing to do with marketing. Users were interested in the features of his MarTechBot and asked questions such as “How does MarTechBot generate images?” You can also ask general questions such as “Tell me about this site.” There were also some questions about food preparation, poetry, leadership, recruiting, and creative thinking.
Although MarTechBot is trained on MarTech.org content, it is important to note that it is built on OpenAI's ChatGPT. As a result, responses to prompts are informed by MarTech content, but MarTechs can discuss a full range of topics.
Feedback has been largely positive, praising MarTechBot's accuracy and relevance.
“I'm really surprised at how effective it is! I'll use it more, for sure. Can you confirm that it's only trained on content from Martech.org? How much data is that?”

However, there are also suggestions for improvements, such as expanding MarTechBot's knowledge base, demonstrating that user expectations from AI-driven tools are evolving. They also asked for more features, faster bots, and additional use cases.
The variety of prompts and inquiries shows that marketing tools need to be versatile and comprehensive. The examples above should give you some ideas to try out yourself. Analysis of MarTechBot interactions provides an interesting window into the evolving relationship between marketing professionals and AI technology. MarTechBot continues to evolve and is poised to play an even more important role in shaping marketing strategy and operations.
Our analysis is drawn from a dataset of user interactions with MarTechBot, including a total of 2,151 chat interactions extracted from MarTechBot's log files. I manually cleaned the file and uploaded it to ChatGPT. AI helped uncover central themes, common words, and patterns hidden in the data. Although we have manually verified as much as possible, we cannot guarantee that our results do not contain some level of illusion.
