- Maxim Luti Oksana Mironova couldn't feed her baby Cosmos properly
- Newborn dies from 'pneumonia and weakness' within weeks of birth
A father with a lifestyle blog has been sentenced to eight years in prison for causing his newborn son's death by demanding that he live on sunlight instead of food or milk.
Maxim Luti, 44, and his partner Oksana Mironova, 34, were unable to feed their baby Cosmos properly, and he died of “pneumonia and weakness” less than a month after birth.
The Russian father will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
According to the Mash news outlet, the man “splashed cold water on him to make him hard.”
“The small body could not withstand the abuse. Extreme fatigue developed and breathing difficulties appeared.” But even in this condition, the child was not shown to the doctor. ”
A Sochi court ruled that Lyuti had “deliberately caused serious bodily harm” to Kosmos by insisting that the baby be fed primarily by sunlight.
He had sought to shift the blame to Mironova, who was already serving a non-custodial sentence of two years of “corrective labor” but pleaded guilty in court last week.
He claimed she had iron deficiency, which caused the baby's death, which weighed 3.5 pounds.
Ms Luti told the court she was guilty of “negligence”. “I admit my guilt,” he said. “If I knew that my son was born prematurely and that his mother had contraindications to pregnancy, it was at the first symptoms of the child's illness.
“Regardless of the mother's wishes or beliefs, I would contact the hospital immediately…”
He urged potential partners to take care of their health before getting pregnant and pay more attention to their babies than ever before.
In the video he said: “Your Honor, Your Honor, I still insist.” [I did not deliberately kill my child…].
“This is a crime of pure negligence…there was no such intent.” I stress again that I loved my son and cared for him. ”
Lüti was detained for a year, where it was discovered that he ignored his own philosophy and ate pasta and other meats in his stews.
The court was previously told that Ms Ryuti wanted to raise her newborn on a pranic diet, or “eating the sun” without food or water for long periods of time.
He was accused of preventing Mironova from breastfeeding her child and was described as a “radical raw food fanatic”.
“He wanted to experiment on children and give them pure sunlight and advertise to others that they would be eaten,” one source said.
Court sources said Mr Luthi was also fined £860.
Oksana's mother Galina accused the evil Lyuti of running a “sect”.
“I opposed my daughter's membership in this sect,” she said. I felt everything and told her that Maxim was crazy, but she did not listen to me. Oksana lived there like a guinea pig. Every time she became cold towards me…she was his slave. ”
Another of Mironiva's relatives said: “Oksana told me she was scared of him. She wanted to leave him many times, but he held her back… He wanted to get back on his feet. [his son into] A man who only eats the sun.''
“He forced her not to feed the baby,” said Oksana's cousin Olesya Nikolaeva. Her boyfriend believed that the sun was nourishing the baby.
“Oksana was secretly trying to breastfeed the baby, but she was very scared of Maxim. How can she get sunlight and nourish the baby? The baby needs the mother's milk. is.”
Lyuti refused to send Oksana to the maternity hospital and gave birth to her child at home.
Eventually they decided to take the emaciated baby to a doctor, but medical staff could do nothing to save the severely malnourished baby.
Oksana's mother previously said she sent money to her daughter to help her in any way she could, but with her partner's watchful eye, she was unable to feed her daughter enough.
“[Lyuti]forbade her to feed the child.'' Oksana secretly breastfed the baby, but she didn't have enough money because he wouldn't give her anything. There wasn't, he said.
“I sent food money to Oksana from my pension. She secretly bought baby food.
