On a crisp Sunday morning, city residents enthusiastically threw out their warm quilts to participate in the Lucknow City Run 2024, organized by the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML). The run marked the start of Manfest Valchava, an annual three-day business, cultural and sports extravaganza that will begin on February 9 at IIM Lucknow.
Organized by Swachh Bharat Mission, the event was held from Lohia Park to the banks of the Gomti River to spread the message about the benefits of staying fit, staying healthy and highlighting the importance of a clean environment.
The run started at 6 am with the theme 'Run for Swachhata', with the aim of combining the dynamism of fitness with a commitment to a cleaner environment. The event garnered support from his Swachh Bharat Mission and others, and grew into a movement for healthier, cleaner cities.
Participants could choose from two categories: 5km “Run for Fun” and 10km “Run for All.” While prizes for the top three places in the 5km category were awarded only to female participants, the 10km category welcomed runners of all genders.Winners of both categories receive awards INRThe first 100 people in each category will receive 5,000 cash prizes, plus a gift basket, medal, and certificate.
UP State Police Additional Traffic and Road Safety Commissioner BD Paulson appeared at the event as the chief guest and emphasized the importance of road safety and fitness. The run not only attracted enthusiastic participants, but was a transformational journey that inspired those making changes towards a healthier, plastic-free future.

Professor Archana Shukla encouraged the participants to stay healthy, seize the moment and live life to the fullest. IIML officials emphasized that Lucknow City Run 2024 is not just a race but a transformational journey, inspiring participants to become changemakers and contribute to a healthier and plastic-free future.
