The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce encourages people to participate in the Kickstart Marshall County Business Entrepreneurship Competition.
Scott Rieger, executive director of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, said three finalists have been selected and will pitch their ideas May 30 at Grandview Park. The winner will receive a prize worth $5,000.
“Whether you are looking to launch your own venture or expand your existing business into new markets, you are invited to apply for this exciting opportunity,” he said. . “To qualify, you must plan to establish a business in Marshall County or bring your business to the area.”
He said participants will also have the opportunity to attend classes at West Virginia Northern Community College taught by Carrie White and entrepreneurship ecosystem experts.
The deadline to enter the contest is Friday, March 1st. Applications can be downloaded from the Chamber's website www.marshallcountychamber.com or by calling the Chamber directly at 304-845-2773.
“The Chamber is dedicated to fostering the growth of new businesses and supporting entrepreneurs on their path to success,” Reger said.
Contest sponsors include Southwestern Energy, MPLX, Marshall County Commission, WesBanco and West Virginia Northern Community College.
Meanwhile, the chamber's other upcoming events include Business After Hours at the Moundsville Center on Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and March 1-2 at the Moundsville Center. There are business and health expos held.
