Hello, I'm Hannah. I am a first time mom to a 7 month old girl named Ellie. Raising children was already a difficult life. It was definitely the hardest but also the most rewarding experience of my life. She's only been on this journey for 7 months, but sometimes it feels like 7 years 😅.
Being a first-time parent is a huge learning curve…that never seems to end. This guy has already discovered a lot of new things in 7 months, but has also made countless mistakes. But as I reflect on the past few weeks and months, a few lessons really stand out.
I'm certainly no expert (see above, about 500 million mistakes). And I don't understand anything. I'm just a mom taking everything in raising a child one step at a time. So I thought I'd summarize the mistakes I've made and what I've learned from them. Maybe you're a parent who can seriously relate. Or maybe you're an expectant parent looking to get a little prepared. I hope the content below supports you a little more in your journey.
1.
In the daily suffering of being born, I don't give myself enough grace.
2.
I'm worried that I'm “spoiling” my baby.
3.
I'm so obsessed with taking naps.
Four.
Comparing your baby to other babies.
Five.
I'm obsessed with my baby's sleep (or lack thereof).
6.
Pay too much attention to milestones.
7.
You're trying to thrive, not survive.
8.
Not paying enough attention to the wake window.
9.
You think too much and weigh too many opinions.
Ten.
It doesn't suit my gut.
11.
I buy too many baby clothes.
12.
I spend too much time on Google.
13.
I blamed myself when I couldn't comfort my baby.
14.
I'm afraid of my baby crying in public.
15.
There is too much emphasis on “schedule”.
