No. 13 Virginia Tech wrestling wins over UVa.

The Hokies (6-3, 2-0 ACC) won eight games and UVa (7-3, 1-1) won the final two games of the night.

No. 2 ranked Caleb Henson (Tech) opened the match with a 7-1 victory over Eric Rogie at 149 pounds.

Tech's Clayton Urie, again filling in for the injured and conspicuous Bryce Andonian, defeated Dylan Cedeno 10-1, 157.

Tech's Connor Brady defeated Nick Hamilton 4-2, 165.

No. 2 Mekhi Ruiz (Tech) defeated No. 14 Justin McCoy 2-0 at 174.

Tech's TJ Stewart defeated Griffin Gammell 20-5, 184.

Tech's Andy Smith (Christiansburg) defeated Christian Kinsey, 10-3, 197.

In a battle of brothers, Tech heavyweight Hunter Katka defeated Ryan Katka 9-5.

World No. 6 Cooper Flynn (High Tech) defeated Kyle Montapert 4-2, 125.

UVa's Marlon Yarbrough defeated No. 11 Sam Latona, 15-7, at 133, and UVa's Jack Joffre defeated Hunter Mason, 18-3, at 141.

UVa was once again selected as the Coastal Division champion in the ACC's preseason coaches poll.

Virginia received 88 points and seven first-place votes. North Carolina ranked second with 86 points and six first-place votes. Duke finished third with 71 points, with one first-place vote remaining. Miami was fourth, Georgia Tech was fifth, Virginia Tech was sixth, and Pittsburgh was last.

Wake Forest earned 95 points and 12 first-place votes and was once again named the Atlantic Division Champion. Clemson finished second with 79 points and received two other first-place votes.

Wake received 10 first-place votes and was also named the ACC overall champion. UNC received two votes, while UVa and defending ACC champion Clemson each received one vote.

UVa and Wake both played in last year's College World Series.

Wake is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the preseason rankings by D1Baseball.com, Baseball America, and the Collegiate Baseball Writers Association of America. UVa picked him 14th, 10th and 11th in these three polls, respectively.
