McLaren Oakland Hospital is relocating part of Detroit's Eastern Market to Pontiac.
Every Thursday through October, the hospital will partner with the city to open an outdoor fresh produce market in Pontiac, with a rotating selection of produce available each week.
The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the McLaren Oakland Corporate Building on Saginaw Street, south of Huron Street in downtown Pontiac.
“It's well known that there's a correlation between access to fresh produce and improved overall health, so having a well-known partner like Eastern Market makes it even more special for all of our stakeholders, especially the local community,” McLaren Auckland's chief nursing officer, Laura Harmon, said.
“Our goal in opening this produce market is to provide a regular and reliable supply of accessible fresh fruits and vegetables while being as convenient as possible for Pontiac residents,” said Pontiac Mayor Tim Greimel.
