- Donald Trump has a history of dunking at the Oscars.
- He also couldn't resist posting about Sunday's show.
- “Tonight is a truly awful politically correct show,” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
It's safe to say that former President Donald Trump didn't enjoy this year's Academy Awards ceremony.
“Tonight was a truly awful politically correct show that has been going on for years. It's disjointed, it's boring, and it's very unfair,” President Trump said of the Oscars in a post on Truth Social on Sunday.
“Why don't we just give Oscars to people who deserve them? That might bring ratings and TV ratings back from rock bottom,” he continued.
Trump not only dunked on the award, but also took potshots at this year's host, Jimmy Kimmel.
“Was there ever a worse host at the Oscars than Jimmy Kimmel? His opening is a sub-par man trying too hard to be something he's not and will never be.” “It was,” Trump said in the post.
Trump's scathing criticism of Kimmel and this year's ceremony went unnoticed. The late-night talk show host clapped back at President Trump near the end of the ceremony.
“Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. Isn't the prison sentence over yet?” Kimmel said after reading Trump's “True Social” post.
This isn't the first time Trump has criticized an awards ceremony. In 2018, while Trump was still in office, he slammed that year's awards show, claiming it was the “lowest-rated Oscars in history.”
“The problem is, we don't have a star anymore – except your president (just kidding, of course)!” President Trump wrote about X.
And in 2021, President Trump statement So he offered some recommendations on how the Oscars can boost ratings.
President Trump said, “They should go back 15 years and look at the formula they used back then, change the name back to the Academy Awards, stop being so politically correct and boring, and do it right. And great.” I want the host to be brought back.”
Trump wasn't the only one to deny this year's award. Billionaire Elon Musk also used X to knock down the Oscars. Musk said the Academy Awards werediluted,“And the prize”No more respect.”
“Winning an Oscar means winning a woke contest,'' Musk said. I wrote to X on sunday.
Representatives for Mr. Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider outside of normal business hours.
