The video includes footage of Princess Diana and young Prince William with Prince Harry at Aberdeen Airport in Scotland, taken on August 18, 1986.
The royal couple had arrived at the airport to begin their traditional Scottish summer holiday at Queen Elizabeth II's Balmoral Castle. As the princess led her two children down the steps of the royal plane and onto the tarmac, she paused and asked Prince William to shake hands with the staff member helping them.
The viral clip is then compared to footage of Prince William and his youngest son Louis, taken at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England, on Easter Sunday in 2023.
In St George's Chapel after the service, Prince William was seen motioning for his son to shake the hand of a clergyman who was waiting for him to come out.
The edited version received over 9,000 likes and thousands of comments, many praising the exemplary examples of Prince William and Princess Diana.
