HARRISBURG, Pa. — PA Farm Link, in collaboration with Northeastern Risk Management Education, Cornell University, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will host a one-hour educational webinar about Cornell University's newest meat pricing program, The Meetsuite Calculator. Masu.
The Cornell Meat Price Calculator is an easy-to-use online tool that allows you to determine the price of carcasses and cuts of meat. Users enter production, processing, and marketing costs and desired profits based on a typical farm animal example. We recommend setting up separate pricing structures for each marketing channel, such as farmers markets and restaurants. This is because each has different marketing costs. The final step in price reduction allows you to change individual prices until you reach your total target (the sum of all costs and profit targets). When setting prices, users should consider the relative speed at which cuts are sold in each channel.
Take advantage of this opportunity and make sure to make profits in your meat business. All farmers receive a free subscription to the Meat Pricing Tool.
