ELKINS – The West Virginia Railroad Museum is not moving, but it is opening new office space in downtown Elkins.
“Actually, we rented a new office space, but it's only for office and storage purposes.” Carrie Perry, the museum's executive director, told Intermountain on Wednesday. “It's in a separate space from the museum.”
The museum is located on the second floor of Darden Mill in Elkins, at the corner of First Street and Railroad Avenue.
The new office is located at 101 Davis Avenue, which was home to an office products business for decades that recently closed.
“We have just moved our office location.” Perry said. “We are going through the archives and trying to organize them and put them into a new computer system specifically for the museum. We hope that eventually we will be able to share some of the archives.”
The museum will open at the end of April for the 2024 season.
“Our members meeting is April 27th, and the official public opening will be after that.” Perry said. “We are gearing up and getting ready to go.”
The West Virginia Railroad Museum is dedicated to exhibiting, interpreting, collecting, and restoring West Virginia's railroad history.
Public exhibits and educational presentations are often held.
