Attorney General Letizia James and Congressman Adriano Espaira warned New Yorkers about real estate scams targeting the Dominican community following the indictment of businessman Emmanuel Rivera Ledesma. Rivera Ledesma is accused of defrauding nearly 150 people through his company InDisArq by offering fraudulent real estate deals in the Dominican Republic and the United States.
The scam included advertisements for properties that did not exist or were sold to multiple buyers, from which Rivera-Ledesma collected millions of dollars in deposits. The scheme primarily targeted Dominicans living in the United States and directly affected approximately 24 New Yorkers.
Victims are asked to report their experiences to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), which will liaise with Dominican authorities in charge of prosecution.
