2nd annual Roger Williams University Cummings Real Estate Institute The symposium on Thursday, April 25th will bring together leading experts in construction, planning, real estate, and sustainability to discuss industry challenges, current trends, and potentially rewarding challenges in the rapidly changing real estate industry. The symposium – Real Estate Industry 2024: Challenges, Opportunities, Strategies – will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at his District Hall, 225 Dyer St. in Providence, Rhode Island.
“Real estate is present everywhere we live, work, shop, and play. Every daily aspect of our lives is changing, and real estate must adapt to the new paradigm. “At the Real Estate Education Program and the Cummings Real Estate Institute at Roger Williams University, we study these questions every day,” said Richard Godfrey, executive director of the institute. “Our annual symposium brings together some of the most experienced and knowledgeable people in the real estate industry to discuss and provide insight into these complex forces and their impact on our economy and communities. ”
Opportunities and potential strategies will be the focus of discussion. Expert speakers and panelists will explore ways to repurpose vacant office space in urban areas. A look back at the evolution of retail industry development and the impact of e-commerce on this sector. and strategize how to balance the need for affordable multifamily housing development with investment uncertainty and competitive rates of return.
The program will include a luncheon, networking reception, and opening remarks from Congressman Gabe Amo, representing Rhode Island's 1st District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Phil Mobley, his director of CoStar's Office Analytics National, who has contributed nearly 20 years to the commercial real estate industry as a researcher, analyst and consultant, will give the keynote address. Heather Boujulien ’97, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, Development Investments, Berkshire Residential Investments, will moderate the session.
This symposium provides an opportunity for real estate professionals working in various professions related to development, design, construction, and sales to connect with colleagues and discuss strategies to improve profitability and move forward.
The day will also feature poster presentations by RWU real estate graduate students exploring new ideas and solutions in real estate development.
The RWU Cummings Real Estate Institute was established in 2022 with a generous $20 million gift from the Cummings Foundation. RWU, through the Cummings Real Estate Institute, has launched a real estate program that addresses the multifaceted challenges of design, preservation, real estate, and related career paths. The program boasts an interconnected portfolio of academic programs spanning RWU's nationally recognized architecture, construction management, engineering, investment and financing, preservation, and law programs.
