Should this practice continue or should it be abolished?
Something very special happens when you become a parent.
It's like a switch that turns on when you realize you're a parent. Some people always envision themselves becoming parents one day, knowing exactly how they will raise their children, including their parenting style and the presence or absence of time-outs.
But some parents have had to go with the flow and learn as they go. There's nothing wrong with that.
The crux of it all is that each family has a different parenting style.

This brings up a question that many have touched on in the past: “Do you think someone other than the parent can give unsolicited advice to the parent?”
Stacey and J Sbu are asking KZN whether this practice should be kept or abolished, and I can only imagine what everyone will say on this.

In most cases, a general rule of thumb is that if you are not a parent, you should not give advice to parents.
However, it seems that some people can't read the room because they don't have a filter. What most parent bloggers say online is that non-parents find parenting so much easier.
For example, the dad blogger at ScaryMommy.com said he receives a lot of unsolicited advice from non-parents, but if it were up to him he would say:
