Women of the Summit, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in Summit County, Colorado, has announced the winners of its second annual Women in Business Grant.
This year, Women of the Summit awarded more than $16,000 in prizes to women entrepreneurs and professionals in Summit County. The recipients of the subsidy and their purpose are as follows.
small pioneers
Heidi Berghamer realized she couldn't return to her career as a hospital doctor because her toddler was on every childcare waiting list in Summit County, so she decided to join Tiny Trailblazers, LLC in late 2022. was established. She is now a licensed home-based child care operator, and the grant will be used to fund the CPA and electronic technology site needed to run her business.
Winter clothing rental
Winter clothing rental offers industry-leading ski and snowboard clothing. Matteson Meldon of Winter Wear Rentals plans to use the grant money to hire new employees, purchase new inventory and continue offering rentals throughout the county.
falkland
falkland is a slow(er)fashion boutique offering environmentally responsible and ethically made clothing, accessories, jewelry and medicinal items by emerging and established independent designers committed to thoughtful craftsmanship . Folcland will use the grant money for merchandising and inventory management.
lumi baking
lumi baking Owner Deanna Busch has been a pastry chef and baker for 12 years, with experience ranging from interning at a 3-star Michelin restaurant to running a small bakery in Paris. Her grant will be used to purchase a new flour mill.
Lisa Huenke
Since starting her career path, Lisa Huenke has been driven by the desire to combine art/creativity with a passion for environmental protection. Mr. Hünke plans to use the grant for training and software for advanced expertise to pursue his career goals.
andrea perry
Andrea Perry will begin an MBA program with Comcast's Educational Assistance Program. She has always had a passion for business and social activism, and furthering her education will allow her to pursue better opportunities. Her tuition will be covered by the program, but all other costs and materials needed to complete her degree will be covered by the grant.
