Parental rules aren't often called “cool,” but I'll always make an exception for this one. One TikToker asked the question, “What's the coolest rule your parents gave you when you were little?” The video answering that question received a great response and is now going viral.
Aya, who posts on TikTok as @this.is.ayah_, answered questions by splicing together original videos and telling stories from her teenage years.
“When we were in high school, my sister and I were always told never to lie or sneak out of the house,” she said. “If we want to go to a party, we tell them. They drop us off and pick us up. Whether it's 3 a.m. or 4 a.m., they pick us up. come.”
She added that there's a second part to this rule that makes it even cooler.
“The older I get, if I decide to go with my friends, if I go to that party with my friends and I have a problem and I need him to come pick me up, no matter what time it is, we call and my father 'Wake up and he will come for us,' she said. “I do not have any questions.”
You have to imagine how much love, trust and mutual respect Aya, her sister and their parents had as children to have such rules. After all, this rule helps children understand that no matter what happens, you will always keep them safe. This is how it should be.
In the comments, people praised Aya's parents for their very cool yet very wise reign.
One commenter wrote, “This leaves room for kids to always ask for help instead of getting into trouble,” to which Aya responded, “That's right.”
Another person commented: “My mother is the same way. I was the only one of my friends who told her mother the truth about where we were going.” This comment makes an interesting point about the honesty that this type of rule encourages.
We love seeing it and more parents should adopt rules like this.
