Lifestyle pickup trucks in India are a small segment, but if you're in the market for a pickup truck, this is your option.
Although pickup trucks are not as popular in India as compared to the US and the Middle East, they have a strong market in the commercial sector. But for those considering a personal pickup truck, the Isuzu V-Cross has long been the choice along with the Tata Xenon.
Isuzu has discontinued production of xenon for personal use.
Isuzu V Cross
The V Cross became the best seller in its segment as it had no competitors as it was the most affordable product in India. The owner has used his V-Cross for a variety of purposes, from trips to the mall, to serious off-roading, to “pick-up” such as hauling luggage or using it on the farm.
Isuzu V-Cross is equipped with a 1.9-liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine

The Toyota Hilux is sold all over the world and needs no introduction as it is very sturdy for a pickup. The Hilux was launched in India in 2022, after which sales were suspended for a short period before sales resumed again, after which issues arose due to the type of registration it could obtain (private or yellow).
That aside, the Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 201bhp and 500Nm of torque, mated to a manual or torque converter automatic gearbox. Unlike the V-Cross, the Hilux comes standard with 4X4 capability.

Powering the Scorpio X is Mahindra's 172bhp output 2.2-litre diesel engine, mated to manual and automatic gearboxes. However, it is unclear whether the four-wheel drive system will be offered as standard or as an option like on the Isuzu V-Cross.
