The Maui Economic Development Commission has announced two events aimed at entrepreneurs and small business owners in the coming weeks.
Networking event with Pacific Disaster Center speakers
An in-person networking event hosted by Maui Tech'ohana will be held on February 22 at 5:15 p.m., featuring guest speakers from the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC).
Guest speaker Dr. Erin Huey will discuss her career in global disaster management and disaster risk reduction, including PDC's involvement in Maui's wildfire recovery.
Events can be held in-person or live-streamed. Registration is required to access either option. The event will not be recorded. Register for the networking event here.

Application Workshop for Disadvantaged Companies
The Hawaii Department of Transportation's Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) team will explain the DBE application process on March 12 at 9 a.m.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, DBEs are for-profit small businesses in which socially and economically disadvantaged individuals own at least 51% of the interest and control the management and day-to-day operations of the business.
The free workshop is designed to help individuals obtain their DBE certificate.
