Mustapha Gazibo is driving change in Nigeria with his ground-breaking company, African Motor Works. The entrepreneur is transforming Nigeria's transportation sector with a focus on affordability and sustainability.
“The main reasons we build electric cars are the cost of mobility, the cost of energy and the high carbon footprint,” said Mustafa, founder and CEO of African Motor Works. Gajibo told SCENES.
The young business owner's interest in electrifying transportation in Nigeria was sparked by the country's persistent problems with electricity supply.
“We went without electricity for weeks, sometimes months, sometimes even a year. That's what motivated me to come up with this company,” Mustafa explains. Masu.
The startup produces 200 vehicles per month and produces mass transit vehicles such as large buses, minibuses, and tricycles. Each vehicle is equipped with an easy battery swap system that allows for a full charge within 40 minutes.
African Motor Works employs 24 people and plans to expand its workforce. According to the electric vehicle developer, building a strong team is the key to the company's success.
“I don't call them staff. I call them family. Whatever glory we achieve, we achieve it together,” says Mustafa.
African Motor Works' reputation is gaining momentum in Nigeria, and Mustapha hopes his venture will inspire other manufacturers across Africa. He dreams of one day seeing his African cars driving through the streets of New York, Beijing, and other cities around the world.
