A wedding guest warned everyone to make sure to read the “small print” on their invitations after being suddenly turned away at the reception for strange reasons.
The woman, in her 20s, was looking forward to attending a colleague's wedding in a small British village, an eight-hour drive and a 16-hour round trip.
To make the most of the trip, she and another colleague arranged to drive together and booked an overnight stay at a bed and breakfast near the venue.

“We arrived early at the B&B and got ready. As we are in the Scottish Highlands, the lady of the house was very kind to drive us to the church. A local taxi company There was only one car and it was full,” she said. Reddit thread.
“The wedding was so beautiful. We took photos of the bride, interacted with other guests, and took transportation to the reception where dinner was held.”
When two colleagues arrived at the reception desk, they couldn't find their names on the seating chart.
“The MC came and asked to see our invitations, but he said we were only invited to church and a drink (after the reception) and that we had to leave now. “I told her flatly,” the woman explained.
“It was written in small print that our invitation was not for a meal.”
They were “completely mortified” as they were completely unaware of the terms of the invitation.
“Neither my colleagues nor I realized that we weren't included in this whole event,” she said.
The two colleagues slipped out of the reception area and found a nearby cafe.
“We try to find a local eatery and eat and kill five hours,” she said.
After being fed, they returned to their accommodation to “freshen up” before the “evening ceremony” at 7 p.m.
“The lady of the house was furious and tried to feed us. God bless her,” she said.
B&B employees drove their colleagues back to the wedding venue.
“At this point, everyone at the venue was drunk, having been drinking for five hours, and it turned out we were the only 'guests of the night,'” she said in disbelief. He spoke at

Two of the guests took the elevator to a bar, where they mingled with locals.
“The locals were very entertained when they heard about our fate from the B&B owner. News travels quickly in small villages,” she said.

The next morning, my colleagues were treated to the “Breakfast of the Gods,'' which means haggis, a traditional Scottish dish.

To add insult to injury, the bride later revealed the real reason she invited her colleague to the wedding.
“The bride then forgot to mention that she only invited people from the office because her boss told her it was polite,” the guest said.
“I thought we were friends with her.”
“A small revenge”
Two colleagues who became best friends after an awkward experience decide to take back some of the wedding gifts given to the bride and groom as a “little revenge.”
“We put £50 each in a card envelope and tipped a beautiful bedding set in her register, so our gifts were worth £100 each. It was worth it,” she said.
“We took the money out of the card and gave her just the bedding.”
The woman said she is now “scrutinizing” wedding invitations to ensure she doesn't make the same mistake.
“The takeaway from all of this is…if I'm only invited to the evening, that's great, but at least I'm informed,” she said.
