West Hartford Assessment Director Joseph Dakers announced that a project will move forward between now and October 1, 2026 to add high-resolution photos of all 22,481 real estate parcels to the existing database. The state requires him to be reevaluated every five years, and this project is being carried out in advance of his next reassessment in 2026.
“Images captured will be integrated into the town's assessment database and easily accessible through the West Hartford Town Assessor's website,” the town said in a statement. “Accuracy, transparency and efficiency are core principles of real estate valuation procedures. Photographs not only provide valuable visual evidence, but also foster trust and understanding during the valuation process.”
In most cases, photos are taken from the street and the appraiser will not enter private property unless the property owner is notified in advance.
Assessors carry identification and drive vehicles clearly emblazoned with the City of West Hartford emblem.
