I often hear my mother comment that this younger generation of parents is doing things very differently compared to the parenting styles of her time.
The difference is not only that I live in a different world than when my parents were raising me and my younger brother, but also that my parents are considered the “older parents” and therefore have a different mindset in general. is slightly different.
So I'm turning to the BuzzFeed community to ask older parents if they think modern parenting styles are hurting their children more than people realize.
Maybe you think that gentle parenting is ineffective because it doesn't teach children boundaries. It can do more harm than good in the long run.
Perhaps your parents made you work at a young age to learn the value of a dollar, but you don't see many parents doing that to their teenagers today.
Or maybe you feel that all the technology that this generation of parents sometimes relies on to keep their children occupied will have long-term negative effects.
Whatever your opinion on today's parenting styles, we'd love to hear more in this anonymous form or in the comments below.
